CASEY-South Melbourne is on track to make it three wins on the trot after posting 241 in an impressive display against Geelong on Saturday.
Swans skipper Damien Wright won the toss and decided to bat at Geelong after a fierce overnight thunderstorm. They were in early trouble after losing three wickets with just 15 runs on the board.
Casey needed a solid partnership to get the innings back on track and it came with the in-form Rob Elston (42) and Wright (79). Wright smashed 13 boundaries and a huge six.
Tim Dale came in late in the day and kept the runs flowing, bringing up his half century in quick time. He was out shortly after an entertaining 54, which included eight boundaries and a six.
Batting in the unfamiliar position of No. 10, Brett Eddy made an important contribution with 29 to help his side to 241.
With two overs left in the day, all the pressure was on Geelong. After Wright's opening over went for six runs, speedster Jayde Herrick grabbed the important wicket of Matthew Harrison, caught behind off the second-last ball of the day, setting the stage for an enthralling day's play this Saturday.
