DANDENONG all-rounder Sarah Elliott played a key role in the Australian Southern Stars' whitewash of the New Zealand White Ferns in the women's one-day cricket Rose Bowl series.

The Stars comprehensively outshone their opponents, going through the eight-match competition undefeated after suffering a 5-0 whitewash by the White Ferns in the Twenty20 series.

NZ lost five matches in Australia and three more in the return series in NZ, including a comprehensive six wicket loss at Invercargill. Chasing the White Ferns 8-255, the Stars made light work of the total, passing NZ's score with 15 balls to spare. Elliott scored 59 in a match-winning partnership with Shelley Nitschke, who top scored with an unbeaten 113. Elliott also scored 62 and an unbeaten 56 in NZ.

The 28-year-old right-hander from Rowville, who also bowls handy leg breaks, has also been selected in the Australian side for next month's Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.

"I hope I can reproduce the same form in the World Cup," she said.

"We will be playing alongside the men's team in the West Indies ... imagine if both of us can win. It's an exciting prospect."

Elliott started her career with Dandenong as a 16 year old

before making her Test debut in Australia's triumphant Ashes tour of England in 2005.
