CRANBOURNE was on top early in its turf 2 grand final against Dandenong West, but the honours were even after West posted 222 on Saturday.
Speedster Kyle Brooke removed the dangerous Greg Siwes for a duck and new-ball partner Jason Toan struck soon after followed by Rob Cleland with the wicket of skipper David Weerden to have the opposition 3-25.
Dandenong West consolidated through its middle order with a sixth-wicket partnership of 104 until Danny Diwell (2-30) broke through and joined Cleland in ripping through the lower order.
With eight overs to bat, the Eagles were 2-17 at stumps with openers Jason Hameetman and Brett Harrop back in the pavilion when play resumed yesterday.
