EIGHT of the 11 members of Cranbourne Cricket Club's only turf 1 premiership side - which won 20 years ago against Berwick - were honoured last Saturday night.
Club stalwart Steve Redgen was also honoured for his achievement in reaching 300 games.
The large crowd at Amstel Golf Club was entertained by Slammin' Sam Kekovich with his unique brand of Aussie humour.
Club president Glenn Weir said he was pleased the club was able to assemble eight of the 11 premiership players in the one room.
"It was a terrific night to see so many club legends in one place at the one time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the turf1 flag and to honour Steve Redgen.
"I think it was also important for a few of our younger current players to listen to the stories of the past and pick up that culture and try and take us forward."
In the premiership, the most important in club history to date, in 1990, captain Peter Campbell, one of the most revered figures in club history, hit 49, as the side batted for 100 overs with help from Paul Archer (24) and Rob Walters (21) to reach a total of 185.
That proved more than enough as brothers Richard (4-18) and Greg (4-28) Hammond tore the heart out of the Berwick batting line-up, picking up eight wickets between them and bowling 25 of the 26 overs of the innings.
Two run outs rounded out the Berwick wickets to fall as it was skittled for 55 in reply.
Campbell said it was a "champion team", with "everyone playing their part".
Weir said the club would build on its "past players culture".
"With our new development at Casey Fields on the way, what a night like this does is enable us to promote our past players culture. We havent really had a facility to do that before.
"Not many clubs are nearly 130 years old and and we're of the view that although we are a predominantly youth-driven club, it's also important to recognise that culture of those who have come before us and involve them in the club as well."
