HOME-grown hoons need to respect their Pearcedale neighbours, local traffic police say.
Casey traffic management unit's Sergeant Pat McGavigan said last week that police were addressing recurrent hoon problems in the area.
"But all the people we have detected are local to Pearcedale," Sergeant McGavigan said. "Why would people do it in their own backyards? It's as simple as respecting your neighbour."
If a road tragedy happened "it would affect the whole of this closely-knit community".
As revealed in the Journal last month, a spike in hoon activity has included traffic signs in Robinsons Road being mown down by vehicles, leaving a trail of tyre marks in their wake.
Sergeant McGavigan warned it was only a matter of time before speedsters and hoons involved in that kind of anti-social activity, would be caught and lose their licences.
He advised residents who spotted hoons to report their registration numbers to Casey Council's toll-free Hoon Hotline on 1800184666.
