Community awards give Cranbourne Treasurers the chance to win $5,000 for their local organisation
Westpac is calling on all Cranbourne residents to nominate their local community Treasurers for the 2010 Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards. With community groups across the region relying on the unpaid labour of honorary treasurers, the Awards will recognise their contribution to the Cranbourne community.
Three community treasurers from small, medium and large sized organisations will receive the award and a $5,000 cash prize for their community organisation. The awards are open to a vast array of organisations and individuals, with last year’s winners hailing from a local surf club in South Australia, an Australian football club in Wollongong and a preschool in regional Victoria.
Local Bank Manger for Westpac in Cranbourne, Lee-Anne West, is encouraging everybody to recognise their local Cranbourne Treasurers and put their organisation in the running to win the $5,000 prize. “The Westpac Community Treasurers’ Awards are a great way for the people of Cranbourne to get behind the unsung heroes of our local community.”
“Without the hard work of dedicated community Treasurers, many of our local organisations simply couldn’t exist, so we’re proud to provide an opportunity for these great men and women to be recognised,” Lee-Anne West said.
Competition entries are judged on how well a Treasurer fulfils his or her duties of ensuring good financial management, good financial governance and good financial outcomes. Nominees for the 2009 Awards were drawn from major cities, regional centres and tiny towns across Australia, and were a mix of retirees, full time and part time workers.
To celebrate the Treasurers’ Awards, the branch is hosting a morning tea for local community
groups. The event will provide an opportunity for networking and attendees will be able to enter the
Awards on-the-spot. Westpac Cranbourne will host this event on Friday 26 March 2010 at 8.15am in the branch located at 116 High Street, Cranbourne.
